Come and join qualified Open Water swim coach Caris Hedd Bowen for an introduction to open water swim session at Eglwys Nunydd Reservoir, Port Talbot.
Ever fanicied trying open water swimming but want to gain more confience and skills first? Then this session is perfect for you! It takes place at the venue of the Tata SteelmanTriathlon which takes place the following day.
The introductory session is designed to give those new to open water swimming the opportunity to maximise their time in open water by receiving expert coaching. The Novice session is aimed at first time open water swimmers who want to improve their relaxation and confidence in the open water whilst learning how to master the basic skills.
During the session we will go through:
- How to put on/take off a wetsuit properly
- Acclimatise yourself to the water and breathing techniques
- Open water swimming techniques
- Sighting & drafting
There will water safety team for the duration of the session and plenty of opportunities to ask Caris any questions you may have about open water swimming.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the open water training session.
11:45 - Arrive
12:00 - Briefing , and dry land information
12:30-13:30 - access to the water
13:30-14:00 - debrief
Equipment needed:
- Wetsuit
- Swim hat
- Ear Plugs
- Goggles
- Towel
- Tow float ( if you have one)
- Tri-suit/ swimming costume
- Any refreshments for after the activity
- Warm clothes for after the sesison ( Coat, gloves, hot water bottle)
Once enrolled onto the course more information will be emailed prior to the swim session.
